A light sugar substitute containing aspartame, a chemical that rots your liver, causes heart irregularities, and bowel obstructions.
I hate preaching to people, but a lot of people don't know about aspartame.
As for where to get it, I haven't seen anywhere in Nederland that sells it, but I know that you can get it off the internet for pretty cheap. I think sugar substitutes are semi-regulated in Holland, so it may not be available unless upon request.
Sorry again for preaching, and I hope this helps. Personally, I recommend sticking to Sugar in the Raw (since it tastes better and it's completely natural/good for you/results in the same kind of weight loss as Splenda). It tastes somewhat like a combonation of granulated sugar and honey, and has a much more robust flavor than any other sugar/sugar substitute I've tasted.
Um, Splenda ISN'T aspartame(Like Equal or Nutrasweet). It is Sucralose. The "sweet" part of sugar (sucrose) converted into Splenda (Sucralose). It is still a natural substance and is not known to cause cancer or any other side effects. Here, see for yourself. http://www.splenda.com/page.jhtml?id=splenda/products/faq.inc#q2 I accept your appology for preaching for everyones sake, but please, make sure you're well informed before you ask others to be. Thanks.
"Splenda, Nutrasweet and other sugar substitues all contain aspartame. Althought the Splenda corporation claims that it contains no aspartame, but rather simplified or 'bleached' sugar, it does in fact contain a aspartame compound, as well as sucralose. This has not yet been made public as the Splenda corporation avoided standard FDA approval tests for unknown reasons. The effects [of aspartame] have been well documented... ...Sucralose carries certain health problems as well, including rapid changes in blood sugar levels (commonly associated with diabetes), heart palpitations, shortness of breath, depression, joint pain, dizziness, migraines and headaches. The list goes on and on." -from the book "Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic" by H.J. Roberts.
Many people don't know about the aspartame content that Splenda contains. They don't have to list it on the bag itself. Although much of the blame can fall on the Splenda corporation for purposely decieving it's consumer base, I'd say a great deal more blame should fall on the FDA and American government for letting things like aspartame, as well as Xanex and other dangerous persciption drugs slip under the radar as "safe".
And even if you believe the Splenda group that claims it does not contain aspartame, Sucralose itself is a toxin.
Hey, my daughter has no blood-sugar problems so, I feed her sugar in the raw and honey exclusively. Don't get me wrong, I'm not into eating crap, but even Sugar in the Raw give me a blood sugar reaction. (Actually, I buy most of my produce and meat from local organic farmers, so trust me, if I didn't have to use a chemical, I wouldn't.) Sucralose does have a place in this world, however it ISN'T meant to be consumed in large quantities. Hey, occasionally I need something sweet (usually I eat things unsweetened). I DO buy a lot of it because I feel that it is better to eat splenda than collapse from a reaction.
If you can't find any, I'd be happy to send you some. Or bring some when I visit.(Most of my family lives in the NL!) I'm a borderline diabetic/hypoglycemic so, I use it often, buy it a lot and wouldn't be inconvenienced by buying just a bit more!
Thank you! I appreciate the offer. My family has been sending me some from time to time but I wanted to find a way to not depend on them and possibly locate SPLENDA closer to home here in the Netherlands.
My dad has adult onset diabetes. I've been witnessing his medical battles for years including a couple leg amputations. Let's just say, I've been horrified and have taken as many steps as possible to avoid walking in his foot steps. My dad's doctor was the first one to introduce Splenda to my dad's diet and it grew on me. I love tea, but not without some kind of sweetener in it. Now I prefer Splenda to sugar. I have a slew of chemist and biologist friends.. I'll have to ask them their opinions on Splenda! Interestingly enough, most of them use it too.
I believe I have most Cocteau Twin cds. We burned our entire music collection onto our pc before moving to the Netherlands. I rarely meet other people who know who they are so it's refreshing to meet someone else who also appreciates them!
You mentioned your family is in the Netherlands, which parts? are you from the Netherlands as well?
Hi! Actually, my family is all over the Netherlands now, but most are originally from Amsterdam. My mom was born to Dutch parents in colonized Indonesia. My Oma lives in Zaandam; I have an uncle in Amstelveen, and on and on... As you've probably read, I'm not far off from your Dad, but more due to hereditary predisposition and major trauma/stress. (I was in a major car accident a few years ago.)
It is equally as refreshing to find a Cocteau Twins fan! I think Blue Bell Knoll and Victorialand are my two favorite albums. Victorialand is great meditation music. (Though I do have a soft spot for Heaven or LasVegas, but I digress...)
What brings you to the Netherlands? Friends? Family? Significant other?

Here's more on Sucralose:

Ultimatly, I think everyone will agree: the weight loss is not worth the side effects and health problems that occour as a result.
